Batch Processing [Improved]

The ultimate multitasking tool for post production, RX 8’s improved Batch Processor is more powerful than ever. Load multiple files from your machine, apply entire Module Chains to the entire batch, then export in as many file formats and bit depths to as many locations as you need. Meet your deadlines and maintain organization with just a few clicks.

center extract

Center Extract

Center Extract preserves or removes the center of a stereo file. Extracting the center will retain the center of a stereo field and attenuate everything on the sides, such as signals panned to the left or right.

Clip Gain

The Clip Gain envelope allows you to adjust the gain of your audio over time. You can do the following with Clip Gain envelopes: fade in/fade out, add nodes, adjust the gain of individual nodes, and adjust the gain of an envelope selection. This can be useful for manually leveling dialogue, or manually automating levels between sections of a song.

Dither is a necessary process when converting from a higher bit resolution to a lower bit resolution. The Dither module applies iZotope's MBIT+ dithering and noise shaping technology to maintain the highest audio quality possible when you are converting to 24, 20, 16, 12, or 8 bits. MBIT+ uses psychoacoustic methods to distribute dithering noise into less audible ranges. The result is a more pleasing sound and smoother fades.

Not included in RX Elements.

Applies a gradual increase or decrease to gain throughout your selection. Logarithmic, Linear, Cosine, and Equal power amplitude curve options are available in the Fade Type menu. For in-phase tonal material, a Cosine fade curve will work well, while the Equal power fade type can be more effective on noisy material.

Gain boosts or cuts the level of a signal by the designated decibel amount.

Markers & Regions

Markers and regions will allow you to define and save particular points or selections in time for your particular audio file. All markers and regions that are created will be saved along with your audio file when exporting.

module chain

Module Chain

The Module Chain is designed to facilitate quick, simple editing, and speed up the workflow of anyone who finds themselves performing the same editing tasks again and again. Module Chain is able to load and save custom processing chains incorporating multiple processing modules, including multiple instances of the same module. You can then select a saved processing chain and fire if off with a single click. This is especially useful if you find yourself repeatedly applying the same modules with the same or similar settings in sequence. Module Chain ships with many presets to help get you up and running.

MP3 Export

RX 8 supports exporting files in MP3 format. Constant bit rate, average bit rate, and variable bit rate are supported with bit rates up to 320kbps.

Normalize applies the amount of gain required to set the sample peak level of your signal to the specified Target Peak Level.

Recording & Monitoring

RX supports mono and stereo recording in up to 192kHz 32-bit floating point.

RX connect

RX Connect

The RX Connect plug-in sends a clip, or multiple clips, to the RX 8 standalone application for editing and repair. This gives you access to all of RX 8's modules in one place, and provides the benefits of RX's offine processing and visual interface. RX Connect is available from the AudioSuite menu in Pro Tools, or as an AU or VST plug-in from your host's effects menu.

Not included in RX Elements.

RX Monitor

The RX Monitor plug-in acts as an instrument in the DAW/NLE that plays audio from RX through the driver being used by the application. This enables you to actually hear the audio you’re editing in RX without having to close your host, particularly useful if you’re using RX Connect. Additionally, if you’re editing a file, but you want to hear the end result in the context of any post processing (perhaps you have other mixing plug-ins running in realtime), RX Monitor will be able to play that audio back in context.

Not included in RX Elements.

spectrum analyzer

Spectrum Analyzer

A spectrum analyzer uses a fast Fourier transform (FFT) to extract frequency information from a waveform to show an imporant analytical view of audio. Depending on the size of the FFT, the signal energy of thousands of frequency bands can be visually represented on a graph. The RX Spectrum Analyzer will show the momentary spectrum of audio around the current playhead position, the average spectrum of a selected time and frequency range, or the real-time spectrum of the audio at the output of RX’s playback.

Waveform Statistics

The Waveform Statistics window shows information about the waveform inside your current selection including peak levels, Integrated BS.1770 loudness, and more. This information can help you find and fix problems like clipping more easily. It is also useful for comparing two similar selections or files. RX treats your selection as a full bandwidth (time-only) selection when calculating these statistics.
